Privacy Policy
Who we are. hillmount.uk is operated by the author of A Sound and Disposing Mind, writing as Rex Calloway. For anything in this policy, contact author@hillmount.uk.
No sales, no payment data. This site sells nothing and takes no payments, so we never see or hold your payment details, delivery address, or order history. Purchases of the book are made entirely on Amazon, under Amazon’s privacy policy.
What we collect. This site collects very little. Specifically:
Newsletter. If you subscribe, we collect your email address (and your name if you give it). It is used only to send occasional news about the book and related research, through our mailing service provider, and is never sold or shared for marketing. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.
Correspondence. If you email author@hillmount.uk, with a question, a correction, or family history information, we keep the correspondence for as long as it remains relevant to the research, and use it only for that purpose. If you share family history material and we would like to publish or credit it, we will ask you first.
Analytics. The site uses standard visitor statistics to understand visitor numbers and popular pages. This information is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
Cookies and embedded content. The site itself sets only the cookies needed to function. However, pages with embedded content, the YouTube trailer, and any Facebook or Amazon elements, may set third-party cookies from those services, which behave as if you had visited those sites directly. Their own privacy policies govern that data. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings.
Links to Amazon. When you click through to Amazon, including via affiliate or tracking links, Amazon may record that your visit came from this site. We receive only aggregate reporting, never your identity, address, or payment details, which are handled entirely by Amazon.
Your rights. You can ask at any time what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing author@hillmount.uk. If you are in the UK or EU, these rights arise under UK GDPR / GDPR, and you may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or your local supervisory authority.
Data security and retention. Personal data, essentially the mailing list and correspondence, is held on the systems of the service providers described above, protected by their security measures, and kept no longer than needed for the purposes described.
Changes. Any changes to this policy will be posted on this page.
